Terminologies always get me more than confused
I understand terminologies are necessary to communicate efficiently, but they’re like cipher to those who are not familiar with it.
I’ve run into situations
Like I’ve been working on some solution for a specific problem, only to find the reason I didn’t find the solution is because the problems are given a special name, and the method to solve them was denoted by a weird word.
Sometime it is named after similar phenomenon or object in the real world, or the people’s name who discovered and published paper about it, that is perfectly fine.
But there are chances people get confused and misuses words. The origin of the word “Kangaroo” can be a good example. There can also be some smart media guy, when trying to introduce something new to the world, intentionally or unconsciously modified the meaning or spelling of the word.
Conclusion
I Google terminologies more and more often to make sure I know how people use it in the past 2000 years, just in case they’ve already changed and I didn’t.
